The Military & Family Readiness Center provide programs and services to assist commanders in identifying, assessing, and minimizing personal and family related challenges to maintain unit cohesion and strengthening operational readiness. These services enable development and sustainment of resilient, ready Airmen, Guardians and their families.

Programs

Personal Work & Life Education

Personal & Work Life services promote community wellness and assist with the readiness and resiliency of the force across the life cycle. Services include intervention, prevention/enrichment consultation and skills-building designed to enhance work/life competencies for individuals, couples, and families. Focus is on promoting, enriching, and improving work/home balance, resulting in increased quality of life and resiliency. Activities will be educational and offered through individual and group settings to meet identified community needs. 

  • Heart Link -New Spouse Orientation Program

The Heart Link Program is an orientation to help spouses to acclimate to the Air Force/military environment. This program is designed to strengthen military families and enhances mission readiness while appreciating that spouses play an important role in re-enlistment decisions, therefore impacting retention. All spouses– new to the Air Force family (five years or less) or new to base are welcome to attend.

  • Commanders Key Support Liaison Program

The Commanders Key Support Liaison Program is an official Air Force readiness program designed to enhance mission readiness and resiliency and establish a sense of community. It is a commander’s initiative that promotes partnerships with unit leadership, families, volunteers, the M&FRC and other IDS agencies. The M&FRC offers monthly socials and training opportunities for the Key Support Liaison. To help support Commanders, and First Sergeants, Key Support Liaisons; Leadership Training can be scheduled on an individual and group basis. Please contact the M&FRC for more information.

  • Bundles for Babies

Bundle For Babies class covers topics such as financial management for parenting, newborn dental care, and even the essential baby gadgets you’ll need before bringing a baby home. In addition to knowledge of infant healthcare and counseling resources for parents of newborns. The class is also a great opportunity to connect with other expectant parents on base. After completing the class, parents can apply for a $100 monetary gift from AFAS to help purchase some of baby’s first essentials. Bundles for Babies program is open to all ranks of service and is not limited to a first pregnancy and must be at least seven months pregnant or already have a baby that is under three months of age.

Transition Assistance Program

The Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act was established by Congress in 2011 and made service members participation in the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) mandatory. The mission of TAP is to provide Total Force Service Members and their families with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to empower them to make informed career decisions, be competitive in the global work force and become positive contributors to their community as they transition from the military service and reintegrate into civilian life.
TAP is the overarching program that provides transition assistance, information, training, counseling, and services to eligible transitioning SMs and their families to be career ready upon
separation, retirement, or release from active duty (AD), thus enabling them to pursue additional education, seek or return to employment in the public or private sector, start their own business,
pursue vocational training or other forms of self-employment.

The current mandatory components include: (4 Step Process)
1. Initial Counseling- Completed with a counselor. Counseling session to discuss the TAP process and start the Individual Transition Plan.
2. Pre-Separation Counseling/Brief- Pre-requisite to TAP classes. Informational briefing to inform the separating or retiring service member of the transition services, resources, and benefits available.
3. TAP Workshop- A 3-day workshop consisting of DOD Day, VA Day and DOL EFCT.
4. Capstone- One on One counseling session with transition counselor to review the Career Readiness Standards, review/complete the eform DD 2648 and route the eform DD 2648 for commander’s signature.

Employment Assistance

 Provides assistance to individuals with researching and reaching their career goals. We provide employment skills workshops to prepare you for a job search – resume writing, interview skills, local job market information, and so much more!

Services and classes focus on education and preparation for the job search process. Most classes are taught in a group setting but one-on-one assistance is also available by appointment.

Volunteer Program

 Volunteer Services provide volunteers with opportunities based on interest and agency needs. Volunteers support the military through various capacities such as youth coaches, office assistants, program assistants, and more. The Center collaborates with other base agencies for the purpose of referring Airmen, Guardians, spouses, and other family members for these volunteer opportunities. There are annual base and community volunteer service recognition events.

Deployment & Crisis Support

RNCOs serve as the principal military advisor to the M&FRC staff on matters regarding readiness, resilience, and deployment for Total Force and their family members.

    • Assists service members and families with advance planning and preparations for deployments and extended separations, to include developing and making available educational materials and information.
    • Briefs and provides information in support of readiness and referral services to families in the absence of the military member.
    • Briefs and assists military members, DoD civilians, and families during emergencies and natural disasters, providing assistance during contingency operations.
    • Provides military, civilian and family assistance and support before, during, and after local or national emergencies, natural disasters, mobilization, deployment, separation, or evacuation.
    • Promotes the M&FRC programs/services at Chiefs’ groups, First Sergeant groups/councils, commanders’ calls and other forums as required

Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC)

Relocation Assistance

 Relocation Assistance is available to total force members and their families authorized to make a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move. The Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) provides programs and services designed to minimize the adverse effects of relocation.

Air Force Families Forever (AFFF)

 The Air Force Families Forever program provides immediate and long-term bereavement care, service, and support for DAF surviving family members and Gold Star Families. Air Force Families Forever serves as a conduit to personalized referrals and targeted information as it relates to the death of an Airman or Guardian, facilitating connection between survivors and the DAF ensures fallen Airmen, Guardians, and their families are always remembered.

Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP)

The Survivor Benefit Plan briefing with an SBP Counselor is required by law and helps the ser- vice member and their spouse become familiar with the options, effects, and advantages of SBP. ALL retirees(regular and medical) are required to attend a Survivor Benefit Plan briefing and meet with an SBP counselor.

Casualty Assistance Representative (CAR)

The Casualty Assistance Representatives provides dignified and humane casualty notification, efficient, thorough reporting, and compassionate follow-up assistance to the next-of- kin of fallen active-duty Air Force members.

  • Provides compassionate assistance to families.
  • Apply for benefits in times of injury or death of active-duty members.
  • Emergency Family Member Travel to ensure family members can be beside of an ill or injured AD service member.

Air Force Warrior and Survivor Care 

MFRCs collaborate with the servicing Recovery Care Coordinator, the lead coordinator for wounded, ill and injured support to affected Airmen and Guardians within an assigned area of responsibility, and coordinate activities with installation agencies. 

Voter Assistance

Installation Voting Assistance Officers provide UOCAVA-eligible voters, federal civilian employee, and other US citizens who have access to the IVA office with nonpartisan voting information and assistance IAW DoD and DAF guidance.

Your Installation Voter Assistance Officers (IVAOs) are located within the Military and Family Readiness Center and are here to assistant with exercising the very right you protect–the right to vote! 

Air Force Aid

AFAS provides emergency assistance to Air Force and Space Force families when unexpected financial emergencies arise with no-interest loans and grants. These financial assistance programs help meet immediate financial emergency needs and help make a positive step toward a lasting financial solution. To apply go to https://portal.afas.org/.  M&FRCs are available to assist with uploading any supporting documents that may be required by AFAS Headquarters.

    Education Support:

    The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant program is the centerpiece of the Society’s education support initiatives, awarding competitive education grants to eligible Air Force and Space Force dependents based on family financial need.
